Release Candidate 0.11.1 is available!

Release Candidate 0.11.1

Features:

  • iOS and Android viewers now support Stretch. Due to this change, the toggle for Overscan has been replaced with a new aspect picker. Tapping the current aspect will allow you to select either Stretch, Overscan, or Letterbox.

Fixes:

  • Fixed RevMob causing apps to hang if it failed to display an ad. RevMob SDKs updated to 7.5.1 for iOS and 6.9.0 for Android
  • Fixed issues with iOS In-App Purchases that would cause apps to fail submission to Apple.
  • Fixed number attributes being limited to 1 million in Creator. The limits for each number type are as follows:
  • Real: Raised to 1.7E +/- 308 from 3.4E +/- 38
  • Integer: +/- 2,147,483,647
  • Index: 0 to 4,294,967,295
  • Angle: 0 to 360
Fixed an error occurring when attempting to change the case of a Table row name (i.e. "rowname" to "RowName") False positives with Android anti-virus scanners have been fixed. Send in a support ticket if you're still having issues.

Known Issues:

  • Angle attributes only accept whole numbers right now (will be fixed in the next release)
  • Aspect picker for Android does not scale well with devices that have large displays
  • The Release Candidate version of Creator will not open if your GateKeeper settings are set to "Mac App Store" or "Mac App Store and identified developers"
  • The iOS Viewer will sometimes fail to display behaviors properly after the first time previewing a project. This can be worked around by hitting the Home button on the device.
  • iPhone apps running on iPad devices with OS 7.1 or greater will show the iOS status bar across the top of the screen. This is a bug on Apple's side. The current workaround is to make a Universal build instead.

Features:

HTML5 Engine Update 3-25-2014 (Windows 8, Tizen, Arcade)

We have a new build for the HTML5 platforms: Windows 8, Tizen, and GameSalad Arcade. In this build, we bring these platforms up to support upcoming 0.11 features and to address numerous CS issues.

Changes

  • Added support for new behaviors and functions from Creator 0.11.
  • Fixed issue with Accelerate behavior when an expression was used for the angle, which could freeze the game, prevent it from changing scene, and other odd issues.
  • Fixed issue with Constrain Attribute behavior when the constrained attribute was also used in the value expression to modify itself.
  • Fixed issue where missing images could cause the game to freeze while loading or changing scene.
  • Fixed text parity issues for newlines and tabs.
  • Fixed other text layout issues seen only on Windows 8.
  • Fixed JavaScript compatibility warnings in Windows 8 and Internet Explorer.
  • Fixed warning messages when building with Tizen IDE.
  • Fixed Tizen submission failures for "privilege" issues.

Known Issues

  • Some features of the Play Sound behavior are not supported in HTML5: pitch, positional sound, velocity shift.
  • On Windows 8, there may still be text display issues with special symbols and non-Latin languages.

State of GameSalad on 8-20-2014

Howdy again everyone! I've gathered some more updates for you since last weeks’ State of GameSalad post. Enjoy!

  1. Public facing bug database! This is now available to everyone! This is the place you can go to see, vote on, and add to our list of bugs! Check out this post for more info: http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/71628/announcing-bugs-gamesalad-com-gamesalad-s-new-bug-tracker#latest

  2. Upcoming Arcade update! We’re hoping to get an update to our Arcade out soon that will feature a bigger play area as well as support for more resolutions.

  3. Release 11 for Windows users. (This is the Windows version of the last big release Mac Creator got.) Not much to update here. Still steady as she goes.

  4. Release 0.11.2. (The next of our planned releases for Mac Creator) Good progress is being made on this front. We've finished work on iOS 8 IAP support which will be included in this build. Some other things planned to be included in this build are compatibility with iOS 8 and Mac 10.10 (Yosemite).

  5. New nightly build for Mac. We've got a list of issues stopping this from coming out. The list is also being looked at and actively worked on.

  6. Release 0.12.0. (The first big release since 0.11.0. and planned to come out after release 0.11.2) Good work being done on this front as well. Some things that will be included when this release is out is our new image renderer and our first pass at facebook integration.

  7. New marketplace. Not much to update here. Still good progress being made. Some of the features being added in the new marketplace are improved UI, new advanced search features, and improved vendor features!

  8. Cross platform creator. Still great progress being made and still can’t tell you anything more about it :)

Hello yet again everyone! First I’d like to apologize for being a day late on this post (it looks like I’ve been caught with my pants down).

As I’m sure everyone is getting used to by now: I've gathered some more updates for you since last weeks’ State of GameSalad post. Enjoy!

  1. The terrible issue that happened to one of our members recently (essentially having their game copied and uploaded to the app store).We’re still working to resolve this issue as soon as possible! We have a fix being tested by our QA team in house currently (gotta make sure the fix doesn't break anything else) and are hoping to have the fix out to everyone in the near future.   2. Release 0.11.2. (The next of our planned releases for Mac Creator) More good progress being made here. Some ugly bugs that occurred when using the Viewer on iOS 8 devices have been killed and will be included in this update. One such issue that has been fixed is the text and graphics being misaligned.

  3. Release 11 for Windows users. (This is the Windows version of the last big release Mac Creator got.) The many bugs here are being slowly but surely worked on and after release 0.11.2 for Mac goes live this will become a higher priority!

  4. Release 0.12.0. (The first big release since 0.11.0. and planned to come out after release 0.11.2) Still a lot of issues being looked at and good progress being made! One such major issue being looked at is memory leaks caused by using the change scene behavior.

  5. New nightly build for Mac! There’s still some issues blocking release that need to be fixed before this will be available to you guys. One of the issues stopping this is the one mentioned above (memory leaks caused by using the change scene behavior).   6. New marketplace. Great progress still being made here. As for new news. a little birdy told me that the marketplace is having makeup put on! (the app is getting its physical appearance worked on some) I stand by my statement of “Should be great when it’s done!”.

New iOS Warning

Hey folks.

We've received some reports about a new warning message when submitting apps to iTunes Connect regarding Game Center references. (Yay!)

"The app references non-public selectors in your app.app/appname: setAchievementDelegate:, setLeaderboardDelegate:"

Below is a screenshot of the warning you may see if you have Game Center active in your app:

This issue is the result of Apple making some updates to iTunes Connect and changes made in anticipation of iOS 8. These references have been deprecated by Apple and will be removed in a future version of iOS.

As it currently stands, inclusion of Game Center (and these deprecated references) WILL NOT result in your app being rejected by Apple. We will be modifying our publishing code to make the necessary changes in an upcoming version of Creator to address this issue. We do not anticipate any project-level changes being required for new or existing Creator projects.

State of GameSalad on 9-10-2014

Howdy again everyone! I’ve gathered some more updates for you since last weeks’ State of GameSalad post. Some of the release lingo is going to be changed starting this week but I’ll do my best to make sure it’s not too confusing :) Enjoy!

  1. The terrible issue that happened to one of our members recently (essentially having their game copied and uploaded to the app store). This fix will be coming out with release 0.12.0, which is coming in the very near future! (A release candidate is expected to be out today :D)

  2. Release 0.12.0! (Previously referred to as 0.11.2. The next of our planned releases for Mac Creator) I’ve been informed that we’re expecting to have a release candidate coming out for this today! I’ve also heard we’re hoping to have a soft release Monday, or at the latest it will have the same release day as iOS 8. One feature this release will have is in app purchases working for a lot of the larger platforms we support: iOS 8, Amazon, Google, etc. For more important information on the IAP changes check out this thread if you haven’t: http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/72359/important-info-on-how-iaps-will-work-in-an-upcoming-release#Head

  3. Release 12 for Windows users. (This is the Windows version of Mac creators’ release 0.12.0) We now have a couple developers working on this to get it out faster, and as you may have noticed by the changed title, we are skipping release 11 for windows and going ahead and working on getting it up to snuff with macs’ release 12. I expect much better progress with the extra hands working on it, and I also expect it to still be a ways out due to lots of fixes still needing to be made.

  4. Release 0.13.0. (Previously referred to as release 0.12.0. The first big release since 0.11.0. and planned to come out after release 0.12.0) Still a lot of issues being looked at and good progress being made!

  5. New nightly build for Mac. Still some issues that need fixing before this’ll be out. The one mentioned last week (memory leaks caused by using the change scene behavior) is one such issue that still needs to be resolved.   6. New marketplace. Still some good progress being made! As for new news, I’ve heard that there’s going to be fractional star ratings! I.e. an item could have a total rating of 3.5 stars.

Salutations everyone! I’ve gathered some more updates for you since last weeks’ State of GameSalad post. Also, I’ll give a little bit of a definition of the releases/builds before their updates to help avoid some of the confusion I noticed on the subject last week. Here you go!

  1. Public facing bug database! We’re aiming to have this available to our free users and updated to have all our known bugs in it sometime early next week! If you’re a pro member and haven’t checked it out yet (but want to), head to this forum post: http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/71050/announcing-bugs-beta-gamesalad-com#latest

  2. Release 11 for Windows users. (This is the Windows version of the last big release Mac Creator got.) I’ve noticed the list of bugs stopping this release slowly but surely getting shorter. Remain hopeful Windows users. Just like winter, release 11 for Windows is coming!

  3. Maintenance build 0.11.1! (This is a maintenance build meaning it’s sole purpose is to fix some of the issues that were in release 0.11.0.) Our newest stable build for Mac Creator is now out! Go get it here: http://gamesalad.com/download/releases. The issue of delays Revmob was causing on Android devices should now be fixed.   4. Release 0.11.2. (The next of our planned releases for Mac Creator) More work is being done on this now that release 0.11.1 is live and stable. Some of the issues that we wanted to fix for build 0.11.1 are now planned to be fixed for build 0.11.2. Other things planned to be included in this build are compatibility with iOS 8 and Mac 10.10 (Yosemite).

  5. New nightly builds. I haven’t heard any more new news on this front. These will likely start coming out again when release 0.12.0 gets closer to being out.

  6. Release 0.12.0. (The first big release since 0.11.0. and planned to come out after release 0.11.2) More work is also being done here now that release 0.11.1. is out. Some things that will be included when this release is out is our new image renderer and our first pass at facebook integration.

Hello yet again everyone! I’ve gathered some more updates for you since last weeks’ State of GameSalad post. Enjoy!

  2. The terrible issue that happened to one of our members recently (essentially having their game copied and uploaded to the app store). This has been fixed as of release 0.12.0 for Mac Creator!

  3. Release 0.12.0! (Previously referred to as 0.11.2.) This is our newest stable release as of yesterday! One feature that is in this release is in app purchases working for a lot of the larger platforms we support: iOS 8, Amazon, Google, etc.

  4. Release 12 for Windows users. (This is the Windows version of Mac creators’ release 0.12.0) As previously stated we are skipping release 11 for windows and going ahead and working on getting it up to snuff with macs’ release 12. Now that release 0.12.0 is live and stable for Mac Creator we are having another one of our developers working on release 12 for Windows. Progress should start to speed up some and however there is still quite a ways to go.

  5. Release 0.13.0. (Previously referred to as release 0.12.0. The first big release since 0.11.0. and planned to come out after release 0.12.0) Still a lot of issues being looked at and good progress being made! This release will have facebook integration and the new rendering system we’ve been working on!

  6. New nightly build for Mac. Not too much to update here. There's still some major issues that need fixing before this’ll be out.   7. New marketplace. Basically, the Marketplace is rapidly approaching the first milestone where we can browse by category! After this we’ll start looking at the marketplace’s design.

Hello all you GameSalad users! As per usual I’ve gathered some more updates for you since last weeks’ State of GameSalad post. Enjoy!

  1. We are aware of a terrible issue that happened to one of our members recently. They had their game essentially completely copied and posted on the app store! We’re working to resolve this issue as soon as possible to make sure it doesn't happen again!   2. Arcade update! For those that missed it. In this last week we updated our Arcade with a couple new features: a bigger play area and support for more resolutions!

  3. Release 0.11.2. (The next of our planned releases for Mac Creator) More good progress being made here. Some ugly bugs that occurred when using the Viewer on iOS 8 devices have been killed and will be included in this update. One such issue that has been fixed is the text and graphics being misaligned.

  4. Release 11 for Windows users. (This is the Windows version of the last big release Mac Creator got.) A couple of major bugs have been squashed since last week and progress is being made slowly and steadily toward release!

  5. Release 0.12.0. (The first big release since 0.11.0. and planned to come out after release 0.11.2) Lot’s of issue getting looked at and worked on here. Also great progress being made! Stay tuned.

  6. New nightly build for Mac! We’ve got someone looking into the last couple issues stopping this from coming out for you guys. Can’t say for sure a time frame yet though, but hopefully soon!

  7. New marketplace. Great progress being made here! I’ve heard news of a category navigation feature being worked on as well as some others. Should be great when it’s done!

  8. Cross platform creator. Tons of great progress being made here still and we’re getting ever closer to being able to talk about it! I’d love to tell you more, but I’m still not allowed to yet. I will say it’ll be hard to keep your socks on when we do start talking about it ;)

Release Candidate 0.12.6

Fixes:

  • iPhone 6 and 6 Plus retina support added
  • Added support for iPhone 6 Custom Loading Images
  • iPhone 6 Plus Platform scene size is now 414x736 (or 736x414 in Landscape)
  • "@3x" images are now used on Retina iPads and "@2x" images are now used on non-Retina iPads
  • Fixed issues with Tables and special characters. Please note that we only support UTF-8 when importing tables.
  • NOTE: If you are making a Mac Desktop app, uncheck Resolution Independence. There is currently an issue with it blurring images. We will fix this in a later release candidate.

Building nearly-identical versions of an existing game in GameSalad WILL get your content flagged for a DMCA takedown and we WILL be forced to remove it.

While we love the ingenuity and speed with which our community develops templates that offer popular game mechanics, we also take intellectual property very seriously -- please consider the phrase "inspired by" and take that to heart when you're building templates or creating other game content and put your own spin on the original rather than seeking to duplicate it as closely as possible.

Remember, the GS Terms of Service require ALL user submissions to have rights and permissions for the content you submit, and repeated violations of this may result in account termination.
